I choose to remain ignorant of what good coffee is because I'm not willing to put the effort into that. The payoff would come only if I'm able to go for the best coffees (I'm skeptical of a linear ordering of coffee tastes in the first place) most of the time (assuming they're available and the cost wouldn't matter). On the other hand, this ignorance allows me to drink coffee for health benefits leaving the perception of taste to be subjective at any given moment.
